OXNARD — November 4, 2026. Early returns in three separate Oxnard City Council district elections show Bert Perello leading in District 1, Gabriel Teran in District 2 and Gabriela Basua in District 5. These results represent three distinct council seats, not the mayor’s office.
District 1 remains competitive
Bert Perello received 3,190 votes (44.44%) compared with John Barrick’s 3,074 (42.83%) and Eduardo Huerta’s 914 (12.73%). Perello’s lead over Barrick was 116 votes, with further ballots awaiting canvassing.
Districts 2 and 5
Gabriel Teran led Lizanne Nañez in District 2, 2,190 to 1,483. Gabriela Basua led Noemi Corpuz in District 5, 1,705 to 1,396. Each office serves its own voters and has a different total number of ballots reported.
Measure E
The city’s separate Measure E showed 12,616 no votes (53.72%) versus 10,870 yes (46.28%) in the early reporting. The legal status of a measure should be based on the completed canvass and its required passage threshold.
What the first returns do and do not show
The results are early returns, not certified winners or final turnout. Ventura County will continue processing valid outstanding mail and other eligible ballots during the official canvass. District candidates represent voters in their own electoral area; their numbers cannot be combined with other districts or the mayoral race. The county’s later report may change margins, so California58 will identify the timestamp of each updated count.
